Employee engagement survey: from measurement to action
In Tanbu, the employee experience platform, you build an employee engagement survey from ready-made packs or your own questions, send it to the audience you choose, and follow participation while the survey is open.
Results appear on a 0‑100 scale across engagement, leadership, communication, development, well-being, and culture, and scores for very small groups are not shown.
From a finding you open a focus area, add action plans with an owner and a due date, and measure the same indicator again with a follow-up survey. With too few responses, no result is shown.

What do you measure?
- Dimensions
- See where the organization stands across six dimensions, on a 0‑100 scale.
- Dimensions that clearly stand out from the rest are flagged only after a statistical test, and scores for groups with too few responses are not shown.
- Ready-made packs
- Start fast with ready-made survey packs: short pulse packs for onboarding, exit, engagement, eNPS, manager effectiveness, well-being, stay interviews, and inclusion, plus fuller measurement packs for engagement and manager effectiveness.
- Tanbu offers ready-made packs, with separate catalogs for pulse surveys and full-length surveys.
Building and sending the survey
- Build surveys from scratch with Likert, eNPS, single-choice, multiple-choice, and open-text questions. Add, edit, and reorder questions, paste many questions at once, and preview the survey as an employee will see it before you launch.
- Send a survey to the whole company, to chosen departments, to organization units including their sub-units, or to specific employees. Managers can only send to people inside their own scope.
- Schedule when a survey opens and closes, and it starts and ends on its own. Extend the deadline, close early, or cancel the survey.
- Survey invitations go to employees by email through your organization's own email (SMTP) settings, and you can see on the survey screen whether the mail server accepted them.
- Manage participation while the survey is running, not after it closes: the number invited, the number who responded, and the participation rate are on the survey screen, together with the last reminder and the email dispatch status.
- Remind non-respondents in one click. The email goes only to employees who have not yet answered, and people who already responded are skipped. Available for named (identified) surveys.
- Question library
- Keep your organization's own questions in a shared question library. Browse ready-made questions grouped by dimension, filter them by question type, and add the ones you pick to a survey in one step.
- The employee's side
- Employees answer the surveys assigned to them in a phone or desktop browser. Scale labels appear in the employee's language, answers are checked before they are accepted, and a signed-in employee cannot fill the same survey twice.
- Tanbu employee screens work on the desktop and in a phone browser. On a phone, employees get a dedicated bottom navigation bar, and the administration screens remain usable at narrow widths.
Anonymous or named?
- Named surveys
- In named surveys the response is tied to the employee's account, one response per person is enforced, and the employee sees before starting that the response is identified. Only authorized HR users can view individual responses.
- Anonymous surveys
- In an anonymous survey, the response is stored without the respondent's name or account.
- Targeted anonymous surveys cannot be sent to very small audiences, and the anonymity setting cannot be changed once a survey is deployed.
- Small groups
- In reports and analytics views, scores are not shown for groups too small to protect the people in them. A group's score appears only once enough people have responded.
- A minimum group size is applied to protect individuals, and sensitive breakdowns use a stricter threshold.
Reading the results
- Overview
- Response status, dimension scores, and the areas that need attention on one dashboard.
- Comparison
- Compares scores by department, manager, location, level, work mode, tenure group, and organization unit, for any chosen dimension. Groups with too few responses show no score.
- eNPS
- Tanbu calculates eNPS, which measures how likely employees are to recommend the organization, at survey and company level, together with the shares of promoters, passives, and detractors. It withholds the score when there are not enough responses.
- Change over time
- Tanbu shows how scores change across monthly, quarterly, or yearly periods. Periods with no data, or withheld for privacy, stay empty, and the line is not joined across them.
- Risk level
- Tanbu derives a low, medium, or high risk level per dimension from survey scores and shows none when there are not enough responses.
- It is not an attrition prediction.
- AI commentary
- Helia is Tanbu's AI layer. It interprets measurement and analysis results and helps you see which next step makes sense.
- Helia is designed to interpret group-level findings and does not make decisions about individuals.
After the survey: action
- Put a dimension that needs attention in a survey's analysis under follow-up in one click. The survey and dimension are linked and, when there are enough responses, the starting score is recorded automatically.
- Open a focus area from a survey finding and add action plans with an owner and a due date.
- Track the action plans of each focus area in a Kanban or list view. Drag plans between status columns or move them from the keyboard, and see the owner and due date on each card.
- The plan owner is notified on assignment. For plans owned by an HR admin, a reminder is sent the day before the due date and another once it has passed. In-app and email channels are managed in notification settings.
- Measure the same indicator again with a follow-up survey. With too few responses, no result is shown.
- Managers
- Managers can create and follow focus areas and action plans that come from surveys of the units they are responsible for. They cannot reach resources outside their scope.
- Tanbu gives managers their team's participation status, aggregated results for the surveys in their scope compared with the company, and a downloadable team report. Other teams' data is not accessible, and no score is shown without enough responses.
Bringing past surveys in
Start without resetting your history.
You bring the results of earlier surveys into Tanbu as a CSV or Excel (XLSX) file. The import works from the file. It does not connect to another tool.
You upload the file, map every question to a measurement area and a scale, enter the period as a year or a quarter, then validate and confirm.
Imported past surveys are scored with the same method as surveys run in Tanbu, and periods with enough responses appear in analytics. If you also enter the period's headcount, participation is calculated and a report can be produced.
Reports
- Executive summary
- The executive summary PDF brings a survey's score, participation, question-level evidence, and recommended actions into one report for decision makers. A report is not a result. It is the start of the next decision.
- HR detailed report
- The HR detailed report brings department and segment breakdowns, question-level results, and action suggestions together. Scores for small groups are not shown in the report.
- Unit reports
- You can export a PDF report for a single organization unit, with sub-units optionally included. Scores for small groups are not shown in the report.
- Report library
- Every generated report is stored as a new version, and authorized users can reach earlier versions from the report library. Downloads use short-lived links and are logged. Versions are kept for the retention period defined for the organization.
